Terry and I both woke up with sore muscles yesterday morning after spending Saturday afternoon helping our granddaughter put up a shelter for her horses, which I wrote about in yesterday’s blog. I think we are officially too old to be doing things like that. But it was fun, and now the horses have a place to get out of the weather.

It wasn’t until she was getting ready for bed Saturday night that Terry realized she had lost one of her gold hoop earrings somewhere along the line. It could have been while we were putting up the shelter, or while she was holding baby Tyler, we are not sure which. Or it could have been someplace else entirely. Who knows?

Hailey went outside and looked around but couldn’t find it, and I may go back out to her place with my metal detector and see if I can find it. Terry says it’s no big deal, but she’s had those earrings for a long time, and I know they mean a lot to her.

After Terry finished editing and proofreading the teaser chapter for the next book in the Tinder Street series, which will be titled The Best Years, I made her changes. Then I spent some time working on my free author’s newsletter, which I will be sending out as soon as my new book, The Forgotten Years, goes live on Amazon. I also got the cover for my next Big Lake book, Big Lake Settlement, from my cover designer, the amazing Elizabeth Mackey. She always does fantastic work. I give her a rough idea of what I think might work for the cover. Most of the time, what she sends back is exactly what I need, with no changes required.

For dinner, Terry smoked some delicious baby back ribs on the Pit Boss, and there were enough left over for dinner again today. My mouth is already watering thinking about them.

Congratulations Bob Jae, winner of our drawing for an autographed copy of Muddy Mouth, the fifth book in my friend Carol Ann Newsome’s Lia Anderson Dog Park mystery series. A Fourth of July parade, 89 feral cats, and a missing author aren’t anything Lia and her schnauzer can’t handle. While the dog park gang trains their fur-babies to participate in Northside’s famously eccentric Fourth of July parade, starving artist Lia Anderson is building a float commissioned by Fiber and Snark, the cat-rescuing knitting club managing the career of local best-selling author Lucas Cross. Then Lucas disappears at a book convention, someone attacks Lucas’s accountant, and Lia is the only one the ladies of Fiber and Snark trust to discover the truth while protecting a secret no one suspects they have.

We had 30 entries this time around. Stay tuned, new contest starts soon. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed. After 30 days, unclaimed prizes revert back to the drawing pool for a future contest.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us.

Thought For The Day – Airports see more sincere kisses than wedding halls, and the walls of hospitals have seen more prayers than the walls of churches. Because love is felt most when it is leaving.
