Not So Soon, Says Monsoon

In a blog post a couple of days ago, I said that it seemed like our monsoon season is beginning here in the White Mountains of Arizona. But the monsoon says, “not so soon.” We got some rain over the weekend, and that was about it. Yesterday we were supposed to have up to an 80% chance of rain throughout the afternoon, but aside from dark, ominous-looking clouds, some thunder, and a little bit of lightning, that was about it. Sometime around 7 p.m. it sprinkled for maybe five minutes and nothing else. Today’s forecast says the same thing, rain through the afternoon. But I’m not holding my breath.

Terry said the larder was getting scarce and she wanted to do some grocery shopping yesterday. Since I’ve lost so much weight, I had a bunch of clothes that no longer fit me that I wanted to drop off at the White Mountain Safe House thrift store. Terry has also been losing weight, and she had some clothes that no longer fit her either. We loaded them into the car, and I dropped her off at Walmart to begin shopping while I went to the nearby thrift store to donate the clothing.

When I was done with that, I took her Subaru through a car wash, if nothing else, thinking that would ensure that we got rain. We know how that turned out, don’t we? At least the car looks a lot better. Then I went back to Walmart, picked up a prescription, and then joined her as she finished shopping. The place is always crazy busy and yesterday was no exception. We were glad to get done and get out of there.

We have appointments this afternoon with our new primary care provider at Premier Mountain Healthcare, which we switched to when North Country Health was bought out by another company and lost all of their providers. We’ll be seeing a nurse practitioner named Kim Novak, but I’m pretty sure it’s not the 1950s actress. If by some minuscule turn of fate it is, I’ll be sure to get her autograph.
