She’s Coming Home

Thank you to everybody who has left blog comments, Facebook comments, or sent me messages hoping Terry’s father is doing okay after his bad fall a few days ago. When we got the news, Terry immediately packed a bag with a few things and went down to their home near Apache Junction to be there for her dad and mom. They kept him in the hospital overnight and released him, and Terry says he’s pretty banged up but is doing as well as a 96-year-old man who’s been through an ordeal like that can be doing.

I talked to her a couple of times yesterday, and things seemed to be stabilizing. With her other two sisters there and the in-home hospice worker coming by, Terry felt it was all right for her to head back home. She said if all is still well in the morning, she would be leaving sometime around noon. It’s about a three-hour drive, and I’m sure looking forward to having her here. So will the critters. Especially her cats. As I’ve said before, they tolerate me, but that’s about it. With Terry gone, they walk around meowing and looking for her all the time.

In other news, I’ve been wanting some kind of a security camera for the front porch area, and a few days ago I ordered a WYZE Bulb Cam Smart Security Camera. It arrived yesterday, and from what I’ve seen so far, I’m very impressed. It has an 800-lumen dimmable LED bulb that screws into a regular outdoor light socket, and the attached camera is 2K HD resolution with motion detection and a siren. It only took a few minutes to plug it in and download the free Wyze app, and I was very impressed with it. The light is super bright, and the picture quality is very good.

When I was done with that and a couple of other chores around the house, I wrote another 2,000-word chapter in Big Lake Homecoming, my next book. Tomorrow or whenever Terry gets settled in and rested up from her trip, I’ll be printing out several chapters for her to begin the editing and proofreading process.

  1. “…embarrassed” ???

  2. Dear Nick,
Am I missing something? Why are or were you embarrassed as pertains to the new light camera combo that you seemingly installed with no issues?

    Take care,

  3. Why are you embarrassed about the camera?

  4. That should have been impressed, not embarrassed. I have since fixed it. Without my proofreader here to go over things, I’m bound to make a mistake. It’s what I do best.
