It Warmed Up Fast

The weather sure did a quick turn around up here in the White Mountains. A couple of days ago, we had highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Yesterday it was 80, and it’s going to be in that neighborhood for at least the next week or so. But that’s okay. At least it’s not going to be 107 degrees like it will be in Phoenix this week.

I took advantage of the warmer weather to go outside and water all of our plants and trees, and the stuff in the greenhouse. I’d like to get the clover planted soon and hopefully get some ground cover in place before the monsoon season turns all the bare areas in the back yard into mud.

Terry is still decompressing from her trip down to the Apache Junction area to deal with her father’s injury. She didn’t feel like going to the grocery store, so she ordered a bunch of stuff to be delivered from Safeway. I had to go to the post office to mail off a book order and arrived back home just as the delivery person pulled into the driveway. As it turned out, they had missed a couple of bags of stuff, and when Terry called the store, they sent somebody back with them.

Aside from writing another 2,500 words in my new Big Lake book, that was just about how active it was for the day. Our granddaughter Destiny graduates from the cosmetology program at Northland Pioneer College today and we planned to attend the ceremony, but tickets were limited, so we won’t make that. But we will definitely be there when she graduates from high school on the 21st. Between high school and college classes, that young lady has been burning the candle at both ends, but it’s going to be worth it.

Be sure to enter the latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an autographed copy of The Ghost of Marlow House, the first book in the Haunting Danielle cozy paranormal mystery series by Bobbi Holmes, who was featured in this week’s Author Spotlight.

When Danielle Boatman inherits Marlow House, she dreams of turning it into a seaside bed and breakfast. Since she’s never visited the property, Danielle’s not sure what awaits her in Oregon. She certainly doesn’t expect to find one of the house’s previous owners still in residence. After all, the man has been dead for almost ninety years—shouldn’t he have moved on by now? Charming Walt Marlow convinces Danielle the only way he can move on is if she solves the mystery of his death. Danielle soon discovers her real problems may come from the living—those who have their sights on Marlow House’s other secrets.

To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed. After 30 days, unclaimed prizes revert back to the drawing pool for a future contest.
