We started yesterday by sleeping in and then snuggling for a long time, just enjoying each other’s company, talking, and relaxing. These special quiet times together are something that we give to our relationship on a regular basis.
At a recent doctor’s appointment, a medical student asked us what the secret was for keeping our love alive for so long and having such a closeness together. We told her that it’s important to make your partner and your relationship the first priority in your life. Jobs, friends, even kids come and go in life. But when the day is done, it’s the two of us together.
I want to wish our son-in-law Kenny happy birthday today. Kenny is a gentle giant and a wonderful man, an amazing husband to our daughter, Tiffany, and a great father. He’s a big, tall gentle guy, but he needs to be that big to hold all the heart he has.
He and Tiffany came by in the afternoon, and after visiting for a while, the four of us went to Buffalo Bill’s in Show Low. It was our first time there, but we will definitely be going back. The place is a combination restaurant, tavern, brewery, and Old West Museum. Granddaughter Destiny and her boyfriend Vicente joined us and we had a wonderful time visiting and enjoying a fantastic meal. Terry had the Bison Burger, which she said was delicious, and I went for a rack of ribs. Both were much more than either of us could finish, so we brought some home for another meal. To top the meal off, they brought Kenny a huge slice of delicious carrot cake for his birthday. I say “delicious” because I scooped up more than my share of it, diet be damned.
On our way out, Tiffany convinced a reluctant Kenny to sit on the buffalo they have at the front entrance. We couldn’t convince him to put on the cowboy hat and gun belt with a six gun, but he was a good sport, nonetheless.
