One of the few things we miss about living in Alabama is the deer that would gather in the pasture behind our house every night. Sometimes we would count 20 or more of them.
However, we have deer here as well as elk, which we didn’t have in Alabama. Last night, as I was getting ready to write the blog, Terry happened to look out one of the windows and saw about twenty elk in the front yard. The picture is not very good because I took it with my phone through the window, but these are just a couple of the big critters about six feet away from our front porch. How cool is that? I need to dig out one of my game cameras and set it on the porch rail and see what else we’re missing while we sleep.

As I shared a while back, Terry’s neck has been bothering her for years now due to compressions and bulging disks. Yesterday, she had the first of two test injections to her cervical vertebrae to see if she was a candidate for RF nerve ablation. It’s a bit of a gruesome process because they stick a needle right into the joint and there’s no twilight sleep involved. They spray a little bit of surface pain killer on the neck and do the injection. Fortunately, it was quick and over with, and she began feeling some immediate relief in her neck. Of course, it is only a temporary injection, but it does tell us that ablation might be a bit of long-term help for her. She and I both have back issues, and those are on the list to be addressed soon, but one thing at a time.
