Off To The Proofreaders

Sometime after I posted last night’s blog around midnight our time, the print edition of Big Lake Parolee became available on Amazon. Several fans of the Big Lake small town mystery series have already purchased their copies. Long time reader Bernard Wulan wrote to tell me that even though he buys the e-book of a new release as soon as it comes out, he also purchases the print books to add to his bookshelf. Yesterday was another writing day for me, and I got somewhere around 3,000 words done in Debt Collector, my next John Lee Quarrels book. While I was doing that, Terry was finishing the first round of editing and proofreading the first five chapters. Once she was finished with them, I made her suggested corrections and then sent them off to Roberta and Judy to have them go through the chapters.

The weatherman says we have another winter storm coming our way on the weekend, with the possibility of anywhere from 4 to 6 inches of snow. So today, Terry and I need to go to the grocery store and pick up a few things because we don’t like going out in that wet, cold stuff if we can avoid it. Then I’ll be back at it again, seeing what’s going to happen in the next chapter of the new book.

Hazel Ying Lee was the first Asian American woman to earn a pilot’s license, the first to join the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) during World War II and went on to fly in China against the invading Japanese forces. None of it was easy – she had to battle gender and race discrimination to prove herself as good as, if not better, than male pilots. She challenged every social restriction to endure and to succeed against seemingly insurmountable obstacles. In doing so, she broke every common belief about women. Hazel Ying Lee reached for the skies and made her mark as a universal and unsung hero whose time has come.
