Yesterday, I received the cover for the print edition of Big Lake Parolee and uploaded it to Amazon. That took a while because it seems like they have changed a couple of things in the process that kept getting me stymied. As I write this blog, at about midnight local time, it still had not gone live yet. Hopefully it will be available to purchase sometime today. It’s always a waiting game when I do this. Sometimes the books become available in less than an hour, and other times it takes much longer. Amazon says to allow up to 72 hours, although I’ve only had that happen once.
Once I had that task done, I started working on another chapter of my current work-in-progress, Debt Collector, the next book in my John Lee Quarrels mystery series. While I was doing that, Terry was busy editing and proofreading the first five chapters of the new book that I have written so far. She should get that finished sometime today, and I will send them off to Judy and Roberta for them to go through again.
Later in the afternoon, Tiffany and Kenny came by to visit for a while. It’s always nice to see them, and we are never so busy that we can’t drop what we’re doing to spend time with them.
After they left, Terry and I went to W&Z Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar for dinner. I had the house fried rice, and Terry had the crispy tuna rolls. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but it’s probably the best of the few options we have in this area. That’s not saying a lot.
You know how you always feel that little bit of panic when a police car gets behind you and you see the red and blue flashing lights? It’s the same when you get a letter from the Internal Revenue Service. When I saw the envelope in our mailbox yesterday, I wondered what the heck I had done wrong and what they wanted from me. An audit maybe? Whatever it was, it probably wasn’t good news. But it turned out it was good news. They were telling me that I had interest income credited of $121.88. That’s certainly better than the alternative I was afraid of.
I plan to be back at it again today, knocking out a couple more chapters in the new book.
