It was hard to drag myself out of my warm bed yesterday morning to greet the chilly day. But a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do, right? As I always say about such things, “You can make me do it, but you can’t make me like it.”
After taking Alli outside for her first potty of the day I had a light breakfast of mixed berries, a small glass of milk, and some orange juice to wash down a pill. Then I tackled a larger than usual amount of e-mail. Even after deleting the spam and the junk, I think I had 23 or 24 emails to reply to. Quite a few were from friends around the country wishing us happy holidays as well as several from readers wanting to know when I will be releasing Big Lake Parolee, my current work in progress. I’m still aiming for the end of the month, and yesterday was a little over 3,000 words. Based upon previous books in the Big Lake series, that puts me more than halfway through the book. As I’ve said before, I never plan on writing a certain number of words per book. I just write until the story is told
I worked steadily all afternoon, only taking a couple of breaks to take Alli outside and another to go out to the garage and help Terry bag up the latest round of goodies she had run through the freeze dryer. This time around it was pineapple chunks, which are favorites with everybody, as well as cranberries, orange slices, and apple slices. Yes, I had to sample some as we were putting them in the bags and sealing them. I’m kind of the self-appointed quality control expert when it comes to goodies.
