Almost A Done Deal

In yesterday’s blog, I said I wasn’t sure if I would reach my goal of finishing my newest book, Big Lake Parolee, before Christmas and have it out by the end of the year. As far as the writing goes, I’m doing good. I got three more chapters written yesterday, somewhere around 7,500 words, and I have one more chapter to go. Of course, I also have to write the first chapter of the next book in the Big Lake series, which will go as a teaser at the end of this book. But that should be a piece of cake. As soon as I get that done and Terry edits and proofreads them, I’ll send them off to Judy and Roberta. Depending on their schedules and how much they can get accomplished, it’s almost a done deal.

About the time I finished writing yesterday, I got a phone call from our granddaughter Destiny wanting to know if we were busy and if she could stop over. I reminded her that she’s always welcome and we love spending time with her. She showed up not long after that with a tin of homemade fudge and other holiday treats for us. I had just told Terry last week that I was hungry for fudge. I guess Destiny must have been eavesdropping, or else she read my mind. I hope it wasn’t the latter because there’s some things going on in there that nobody, let alone an innocent 18-year-old girl, should see.

We visited for quite a while, and Destiny played with Alli, trying to teach her to roll over on command. That involved giving her treats as a reward. However, Alli quickly grew tired of that nonsense and looked at her as if to say, “My dad gives me treats all the time and I don’t have to do anything but sit here and look pretty.” Then she came over and laid at my feet and was done. Life must be nice when you are a princess.
