I’m back with more questions from blog readers. While I try to answer all questions individually, I also share some here occasionally.
Q. You haven’t mentioned your Airstream motorhome in a while. The last I heard, you were putting it on consignment somewhere. Has it sold yet?
A. No it hasn’t and I sure wish it would. We’re going to give it another two weeks with the dealer here in this area and if that doesn’t work, we’ll take it down to the Phoenix/Mesa area and talk to a dealer there.
Q. Have you done any ride-alongs with your son-in-law, the police officer? If you did, I don’t remember you mentioning it. I would think it would be a good way to get some story ideas for your books.
A. I’ve done many ride alongs over the years with many different officers, but I have not with our grandson-in-law, Toby. At least not yet. I may ask him about doing so one of these days.
Q. I saw the pictures of the elk you had in the blog. Being a city girl, I never realized they were that big. I thought they were about the size of a deer, but they look much larger. How big do they get?
A. While an adult bull elk can weigh over 1,200 pounds and stand about 5 feet tall at the shoulder, the average for a bull is between 700 and 800 pounds. Cows are somewhat smaller, averaging between 500-600 pounds.
Q. Recently, you’ve mentioned buying two different handguns, and I know you have other guns already. Just how many guns does one man need?
A. At least one more. Always at least one more.
Q. I know that when you guys were fulltime RVing, you went just about everywhere in the country at least once. If you could make just one more RV trip, where would it be?
A. Without question, it would be Highway 101 along the Oregon coast. We love that whole stretch of coastline, with its dramatic ocean views around every curve, and exploring the little towns along the way like Newport, Florence, Seaside, and on up to Astoria.

I lived in Oregon for 40+ years and drove that road innumerable times. It is, without question, one of the most beautiful drives in the world. The most amazing way to see it, however, is a friend of mine and I took a 6-day bike ride from Astoria to Brookings. It is even more amazing from the seat of a bicycle. I was a much younger man then.
