Range Time

I have been wanting to try out my new Ruger Single Seven .327 Magnum revolver, and Kenny has been eager to test some .45 ACP reloads that he made to be sure they will function in all of our different pistols before he starts cranking them out by the hundreds. Since he has Fridays off, yesterday seemed like a good time to get some shooting done.

We usually just go out to any of the informal target ranges around the area, which are just places away from town with a good backstop to make it safe to shoot. But this time around, I wanted to go to the Hub, a gun shop in Lakeside that also has an indoor shooting range. The fee is $15 to shoot, but as a senior citizen, I got $5 off, and Kenny could accompany me for another $5. We were both pleased that the reloaded .45 ammunition worked in all three of the .45s I had with me, and in Kenny’s. Now he’s good to go at the reloading bench.

As for the Ruger .327 Magnum, at one time or another I have probably shot just about every type of handgun caliber available. I have to say that this gun really has a lot of snort and recoil. Probably as much as any .44 Magnum I have ever fired. The gun will also chamber any .32 caliber ammunition, so there are a lot of different options available that don’t have nearly as much recoil to them. I wasn’t really impressed with the accuracy, either. It needs to be dialed in a bit, no question about that. The jury is still out on whether or not it will be a keeper.

When I got home, I had a package waiting for me with a new pair of Skechers Delson 3.0 – Roth slip-on shoes. I have several pairs of Skechers shoes, but I think these casual shoes look nice and are very comfortable to wear, as are all of the Skechers that I have.
