Handy Little Cabinets

As I’ve said before, our home here in Arizona is much smaller than our Alabama house, which means storage is a problem. Terry is always looking for ways that will work to keep things from piling up here, there, and everywhere. The other day, she ordered a pair of Corner Bread Boxes from Amazon that are very handy. They are made from bamboo with wavy glass door panels and look really nice.

We have an area on top of a bookshelf in the kitchen that Terry wanted to put to use. She ordered two of them, and they fit perfectly. And because they are air tight, they will keep bread and things like that fresher for much longer.

Of course, a trip to Miss Terry’s kitchen isn’t complete unless we have something good to eat, is it? How about this shrimp scampi over linguine that she made for dinner? It was delicious, but what else would we expect from Terry?

Yesterday afternoon was busy for us. We started out with a visit to the Show Low Police Department, where I had my fingerprints taken for my Arizona concealed weapons permit. Even though Arizona is a constitutional carry state, which means you don’t need to have a permit, they come in handy for when you’re traveling out of state and visiting other states that will honor the Arizona permit. It also saves time when buying a firearm because though you have to fill out the federal paperwork, you don’t have to wait for a call to the state police for a background check.

When I was done with that, we went to the post office to mail off a book order, and then to Safeway to pick up some things. Terry and I agree that the Safeway here in Show Low is one of the most poorly stocked grocery stores we’ve seen anywhere in the country. It seems like every time we go shopping, there are at least two or three things they don’t have. One of the few things we really miss about the South is Publix supermarkets. Publix and HEB in Texas are always great to shop at.

When we had our check-ups with our primary care provider last week, we both got flu and pneumonia shots, but they didn’t have the COVID vaccine. They said that they have them available at Safeway. So while we were there yesterday, we both got those, too.

Back at home, after dinner we watched a few more episodes of Season 3 of Dark Winds on Netflix. The series is based on the Tony Hillerman books about the Navajo people of the Southwest and it is very good.
