Keep Checking Amazon

It’s been a whirlwind of frenzied activity around our place this weekend as we have been working hard to get everything finished so I could publish Baby Boom on Amazon. We almost made it yesterday. We were close, but we all know that close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

When Terry finally knocked off sometime around 7 o’clock yesterday evening after hours of reading and making last minute suggestions for the manuscript while I was making her changes as she gave them to me, she still had about 20 pages to go. That won’t take long this morning, and then I will get it uploaded to Amazon. It should be live sometime today. It all depends on how long it takes Amazon to do things on their end. I’ve seen that take as little as 45 minutes and as much as 24 hours. Keep checking, and please let me know if you see it before I do.

Aside from that, there’s nothing else going on. The only times I left the house yesterday were to feed Declan, the porch cat, and to take Alli out a few times to chase a ball and go potty. Then it was right back to work. It wasn’t that way for Terry. Besides all the reading and making suggestions she was doing, she also found time to do a couple of loads of laundry and make a delicious dinner of four-cheese tortellini with her homemade sauce. I think that after we get the book out today, I should take her out for a nice dinner after all she’s done, don’t you?

So, what’s next on the agenda? Writing another book, what else? I’ll take a couple of days to catch my breath and get a few chores done around the house and then I’ll be starting on Big Lake Parolee, the 27th book in the Big Lake series. My goal is to get it out by Christmas, and if I keep my nose to the grindstone, and with the help of Terry, Roberta, and Judy, I think I can make it.

Congratulations Mike Knight, winner of our drawing for a book from my personal library, Cowboys and Gangsters: Stories of an Untamed Southwest by Samuel K. Dolan. The author tells the story of the untamed regions of Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas during the Prohibition-era of the 1920s and 1930s, where frontier gunfights were still happening. It’s the story of a handful of Texas Rangers and Federal Agents trying to bring law and order to this wild land while facing off with some of the most vicious rum runners and outlaws of the time.
