Emptying And Organizing

Our house here in Arizona is much smaller than our previous home in Alabama, which, of course, means that not everything will fit. Since we moved here in June, the garage has been full of boxes of things we needed to sort through and decide what to keep, what to donate, and what goes into a yard sale box. Yesterday seemed like a good day to get some of that done.

But before that happened, I first spent some time making corrections to several chapters of my new book that Roberta had sent back to me. She’s still got a few chapters to go through. Once I get them back and make her corrections, Terry will give the book one final read-through before I send it off for formatting. After I made Roberta’s suggested corrections, I had to go to the post office and run a couple of errands. When I came home, it was time to tackle the garage.

The first order of business was to move this tall, six-foot-wide cabinet that has been sitting right in the middle of the garage. Fortunately, it’s on casters, so I was able to move it against the back wall beside the spare refrigerator. Then I started filling the spaces in it, mostly with boxes of yarn for Terry’s weaving projects. She came out to help me, and we spent quite a bit of time emptying out boxes from the move, getting things organized, and consolidating things we wanted to keep into fewer boxes.

By the time we were done, I had a pile of empty boxes to flatten and put in the recycle bin.

We kept at it for several hours, and by the time we knocked off, we had made a lot of room in the garage. We’ve still got more to do, that will have to happen another day.
