A Busy Afternoon

We got a bit of a late start yesterday morning, but we surely made up for it during the afternoon. I guess it all balances out, right?

After taking Alli out for her morning potty and ball-chasing activities, I checked my blood glucose, posted my blog to Facebook, and answered two or three pressing emails. Then it was time to get out of my comfy clothes and get dressed in street clothes and ready to go.

Our first stop was at North Country Health Care to meet with Terilyn Brasher, our primary care provider, to go over our recent lab results. Everything is good, including our A1C and cholesterol levels. The only thing for me that was of slight concern was my low red blood count, which is nowhere near the danger zone, but something that needs monitoring. Terilyn put in an order for me to go to the on-site lab to have a blood draw. Miss Terry has been dealing with persistent back and neck pain for a long time now, and Terilyn is going to refer her to a pain management clinic.

While we were there, we got our annual flu and pneumonia shots. They didn’t have the COVID vaccine, so we have to go to one of the local pharmacies for that. Then I went over to the lab and got the blood draw.

When we left the doctor’s office we went to Fawcett Chiropractic, just a couple of blocks away. I’ve been having some sciatica issues that are causing a lot of aggravation, and Dr. David Fawcett gave me an adjustment. Hopefully that will resolve the issue, because it’s been hard to sleep lately.

We had just enough time to get home, pick up a couple of items, and then we took off again to go to Los Corrales Mexican restaurant to meet with Tiffany, Kenny, granddaughter Hailey, and her husband Toby for Hailey’s birthday dinner. The food was very good and the servings huge. I ordered a seafood chimichanga plate, which came with two chimichangas, and I could only eat one. Here I am with the birthday girl. Talk about Beauty and the Beast!

Today is going to be another busy day. I have to upload the printed edition of Baby Boom to Amazon, try to get the audiobook version set up, and work on my new Big Lake book. I laugh sometimes when people tell me it must be nice to be retired. I’ll never know what that feels like, but that’s okay. My dad always told me that if you love what you’re doing, you will never work a day in your life. When I was a teenager, I kind of thought he was a dim bulb sometimes. But by the time I hit about 30, I was amazed at how smart he got.
