Yesterday was the same as it’s been for a week or so. More of the same. I knocked out another 2,500 or so words in my new Tinder Street book and then printed out eight new chapters for Terry to edit and proofread. While she’s doing that, I will be writing more. I really want to get this book done, but I won’t rush the process. As the old saying goes, “Anything worth doing is worth doing right.”
Our daughter Tiffany came by for a visit during the afternoon. It’s always good to spend time with her, and she’s always in a wonderful mood. Tiffany really is one of the happiest people I’ve ever known. I just love her smile.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that a few years ago she was lying in a coma after her heart suddenly stopped. The medical people told us they didn’t know if she would survive or not. They also warned us that if she did come back, they didn’t know how much of her would return. She proved everybody wrong and has made an amazing recovery.
The experience changed Tiffany in many ways, and though she’s always happy-go-lucky, she now has a serious side to her as well. Besides working at the high school as the attendance secretary, she’s attending college to get her degree. We were talking about this a while back, and something she has in common with Terry and me is that we are all living on borrowed time. I almost died while I was in the Army. Terry survived stage four cancer and a doctor telling her she had six weeks to live. And then there’s Tiffany’s amazing recovery. I believe that when you go through something like that, you value life more. And I also believe that there are a lot of little things that don’t bother you as much. It definitely changes your perspective.

As someone who, in January of this year, the doctors didn’t think would still be here, I completely agree with all you have said about the perspectives of those living on borrowed time. Attitude seems to make a difference in recovery as well. I am sure that Tiffany’s smile and positive attitude went a long way in her healing and in the years since. Many people have said that about me, too.
