Rain, But Not Enough

Monsoon season in Arizona is supposed to last through the end of September, but we have seen very little precipitation anywhere statewide. It’s rained a couple of times in the last month or so here in the White Mountains, but as with most of the country, we seem to be in a drought situation and far behind the normal rainfall amount. We did get a couple of hard rain showers yesterday, but they only lasted for a few minutes. Just enough to wash the ash from the wildfires off the vehicles and the deck, but not enough to do our plants any good.

I did some writing in the morning yesterday, and then Tiffany and Kenny came over because Terry was making chicken Alfredo for dinner. Like everything she cooks, it was delicious, and by the time everybody cleaned their plates and Kenny and I had a little bit of what was still in the pan, it was all gone. It’s a good thing that the Manjaro I am taking has curbed my appetite so much, or me and the big guy might have come to blows right there in the kitchen. 😊 But we still had room for the peach pie Terry baked Friday evening.

A while after we finished eating, our granddaughter Hailey and her husband Toby showed up. It’s always nice to spend time with them.

Terry and I are talking about getting rid of our Airstream Interstate B van and replacing it with a smaller vehicle. When we bought the van, it was primarily to make the trip back and forth from our home in Alabama to Arizona to visit Tiffany and her family and Terry’s mom and dad down in the Apache Junction area. Hindsight being 20/20, we regret that because we never did get enough use out of it to make the investment worthwhile, and we probably won’t, now that we live here. It’s a great motorhome, but if all we need is something to run back and forth around town or down to the Valley, as folks around here call the Phoenix metropolitan area, it’s overkill. Two vehicles we are considering are the Chevrolet Traverse and the Subaru Outback. Her parents have had several Subarus over the years and have absolutely loved them, and I’ve been impressed with every one of them I have been in. I’ll let you know how that all shapes up.
