Gather ’Round The Table

Yesterday was a wonderful day for us, the first of many like it, I’m sure. Our granddaughter Hailey and her husband Toby came over about 2 o’clock, and an hour or so later daughter Tiffany and her husband Kenny showed up. We had a nice time visiting, watched part of a NASCAR race Kenny and Toby were interested in, and then we gathered around the table. Terry made her delicious green chili pork posole, which is a two-day project, and everybody agreed it was well worth the effort. I don’t think any of the four had experienced it before, but they all let Terry know that anytime she wants to cook it they’ll be happy to come over and help eat it all up. And, of course, Terry was in her element, cooking for the people she loves.

Terry actually made two big pots of it, so besides all of us having plenty to eat, there was enough to send home with everybody so they would have some for lunch or dinner whenever they wanted it. And I made sure she saved some for us, too. Charity really does begin at home, right? 😊

It is so nice to get together with our adult daughter and her husband and our adult granddaughter and her husband. We are loving our family time with everybody, and it’s not over yet because as I understand it, Tiffany and Hailey are coming over again today to make lasagna for dinner for everybody.

Later on, after everybody left and it had cooled down a little bit, we went out to water the plants. One of the selling points for me when we bought this house was the huge backyard. Alli loves running and playing back there, and when the string lights are on it’s a great place to sit and unwind in the evening.

I’m looking forward to getting my Pit Boss smoker moved from the carport to the deck so we can cook out there. It’s big and heavy, but fortunately Kenny and his son Travis are both big and strong, and they won’t have any trouble getting the job done.

As you can see, we are settling very well into our new life in our old hometown of Show Low, and we couldn’t be happier. It was a tough decision to make, and the physical act of moving here from Alabama was draining, but it was well worth it,
