Slowly But Surely

We’ve been in our new home here in Show Low for a week now and we are getting settled in, slowly but surely. It took a couple of days just to get the two U-Haul trucks unloaded, and much of what was in them went into the garage. Tiffany was in the garage as the volunteer crew brought in boxes, directing where they were stacked based upon which rooms they are eventually destined for.

It took five people and an appliance dolly to get my heavy gun safe off the truck and into the house. By the time they were done everybody needed a rest and something cold to drink.

Another project was putting our heavy 1970s-era oak bedroom set together, but Kenny and his son Travis made it look easy.

Our new house is smaller than our Alabama house and Terry has had her challenges figuring out where to put everything. I see a yard sale in our future.

Alli and the cats have settled into the new place just fine. I guess since the furniture is the same and they are familiar with it, there hasn’t been that much change for them. Alli likes the huge fenced in back yard, even if it is smaller than the pasture where she played back in Alabama. They have had to get used to so many new people visiting, but they are getting to know the family and adapting well. It’s always nice to see granddaughter Destiny when she stops in between school and work. This young lady stays very busy.

We have faster and more reliable internet service here, and today a technician from Dish Network will come to install an antenna and get us connected. Somewhere in the move we have misplaced the remote control for one of our televisions, but I am sure it will turn up sooner or later.

Hopefully we will get enough put away in the next couple of days to make a trip down to Apache Junction to see Terry’s parents. She has been in touch with her mom every day, and she is holding her own. I know her mom and dad are eager to see her, and we are looking forward to seeing them, too.

Thought For The Day – Our parents were concerned with raising good citizens. Today’s parents are concerned with raising happy children. It’s not the same thing.
