A Lot Going On

Yesterday was busy around our place, with a lot going on. Wednesday night Kenny and the kids brought in all our oak bookcases from the garage, and yesterday Terry and I were deciding the best places for them. Our new home is smaller than our Alabama house, so it’s been a challenge.

What do you do when you can’t fit everything you own into your house and garage? Unknown to Terry, I had ordered a Harvest Right freeze dryer for her birthday. She has wanted one for a long time, and in the early afternoon a FedEx eighteen-wheeler pulled up in front of the house to deliver it. For now, it will have to sit in the garage with everything else.

At the same time the FedEx truck arrived, so did a very nice young man named Louis to install our Dish TV system. Our house was not prewired for cable, so the job took several hours as Louis ran the needed cable to the living room and two bedrooms.

Louis, who told us he is half Navajo and half Spaniard, is a very intelligent man and we had quite a discussion about the history of the human race, ancient cultures, and how mankind has evolved.

Later, in the evening, Terry and I spent some time watering all the outside plants. We were just wrapping up in the backyard when I heard the gate opening and closing as our granddaughter Hailey stopped in for a visit. Hailey has loved any and every kind of animal from the time she was tiny. She was always bringing a doodlebug or earthworm, or even a snake to show us every time we visited.

That love of critters makes her job as a dog groomer the perfect fit. She has many regular customers who bring their pets to her for their regular pampering, and some who appreciate a little more than just a standard shampoo and nail clipping. This is Louie, sporting a red, white, and blue look in honor of the upcoming 4^th of July. Hailey said she plans to take Alli to her shop for a grooming. I really hope she doesn’t come home as a diva.
