Will It Ever End?

The thunder rumbled and the rain poured for much of Thursday night, but had pretty much stopped by the time we got up yesterday morning. It rained a bit off and on through the day, but nothing that amounted to much, and not nearly as much as the weatherman had predicted. However, we’re supposed to have some more rain on Sunday, and early this coming week we’ll have a night or two down into the mid-20s to low 30s. What happened to Spring? That’s Winter weather. Will it ever end?

After breakfast, I spent some time answering quite a few emails, then called Roberta Jensen, one of my proofreaders and a dear friend for close to 40 years, to wish her happy birthday. When I count the treasures in my life, Roberta is one of them.

After chatting with Roberta for a while, I helped a friend with a problem that had come up unexpectedly, then settled down to get some writing done. By the time I knocked off for dinner sometime around 7 PM, I had another 3,000 words done in my new Big Lake book. Things are starting to wrap up in Sheriff Weber’s latest investigation and the end is in sight. That is, if one or more of the characters doesn’t throw a monkey wrench into things. It’s been known to happen.

For dinner, Terry made delicious pan seared grouper, along with baked potatoes and corn for me, and a combo of sauteed summer squash, mushrooms, and red peppers for her. She tells me that today she’s making one of my favorite dishes, fried chicken breast. My taste buds are working overtime in anticipation.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for campground reviews, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day.

To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed. After 90 days, unclaimed prizes revert back to the drawing pool for a future contest.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. Thanks to Jim Harper for sharing this one.

Thought For The Day –  No matter how serious life requires you to be, everyone needs at least one friend to act goofy with.
