It’s So Quiet

After having our daughter and granddaughter visiting us from Arizona for a week, it’s so quiet here with them gone. ☹ We miss them already. Heck, we missed them by the time we were out of the airport yesterday.

I talked to Tiffany last night, and they were home safe and getting settled back in. She tells me that when they come back to visit in October, her husband Kenny may come, too. That would be nice.

Even though we only got a few hours’ sleep on Tuesday before going to the airport, neither Terry nor I slept well Wednesday night for some reason.

Alli seemed confused by the girls being gone. Several times yesterday she went into the guest bedroom and then came out and whined, as if asking, “Where did they go? I was just getting that young one trained on the proper way to throw my ball.”

The cats are cats. They couldn’t care less as long as they get fed and someone scratches their bellies now and then. At one point yesterday, I found Mae Lin standing in the corner. I don’t know if Terry put her on time out or what was going on.

I spent much of yesterday afternoon writing, getting another chapter in my new Big Lake book done, somewhere around 2,800 words. The weatherman says we’re going to have a lot of rain throughout the day today, possibly as much as two inches. That sounds like a perfect day for writing. Hopefully, I’ll get another chapter or two finished.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for campground reviews, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day.

To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed. After 90 days, unclaimed prizes revert back to the drawing pool for a future contest.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us.

Thought For The Day – I never quite understood why we have to let religion and politics and things like that stand in the way of just being good human beings. – Dolly Parton
