Hot Tub Delivered

As I wrote in a blog a few days ago, Terry and I both have bad backs, and before we hit the road as fulltime RVers long ago, there was nothing more relaxing than soaking in our hot tub at the end of the day, letting the jets massage our aches and pains away. We decided now that we had enough room to have another one, we owed it to ourselves and decided that would be our joint Christmas present to each other.

After doing a lot of research, last week we went to Water Works Pool & Spa in Tuscaloosa and bought a HotSpring model that includes 43 jets, four regular seating areas, and a lounge where we can stretch out and soak our backs and legs at the same time.

Bright and early yesterday morning, a crew showed up to deliver the new hot tub. Using a trailer designed for that purpose, they were able to back up to the new deck we had built right off of our bedroom and slide the hot tub onto it.

Then it was easy to position it where we wanted it on one end of the deck, under the pergola we included when the deck was built.

We think it looks pretty good.

The delivery guys were very efficient and helpful, attaching the hydraulic cover lift to make it easy to take the cover off, setting up the steps and safety rail, and explaining different things about the tub and how it works.

Once the hot tub was in place, Scott Banks from Banks Construction, the father and son team that built both of our decks, ran the electric wire and installed the sub-panel. Unfortunately, we had the wrong 50-amp breaker, so we won’t get that installed and things wrapped up until Monday morning. That’s okay because we are supposed to have some strong storms coming through the area this weekend so we probably wouldn’t get to use the tub much anyhow.

But we filled it up so that as soon as the electric is ready we can turn it on and start heating it up. I’m looking forward to it!

We celebrated by having some of Miss Terry’s delicious made from scratch pizza for dinner. I’m kind of boring I guess, because all I ever want is pepperoni on mine, but Terry is a little more adventurous. Hers also included black olives, onions, and mushrooms. Life is good at the Russell household. 😊
