Hit The Jackpot

It took a while to get some kinks worked out, but yesterday afternoon, Jackpot, the twelfth book in my John Lee Quarrels mystery series, and my 54th book overall, went live in Amazon’s Kindle store and on Kindle Unlimited. It came in at 85,622 words, not counting the front matter such as the title and copyright pages, list of my other books, and the teaser chapter for The Ballad Of John Lee, the next book in the series, which is included at the end of the new book. The print edition will be out in a few weeks, but I can’t give you an exact date for that yet.

I appreciate Terry, Judy Rinehimer, and Roberta Jensen for all of their hard work editing and proofreading. And of course, I can’t forget my amazing cover artist, Elizabeth Mackey, who is the best in the business.

Besides working so hard to help me get the new book out, Terry made a delicious dinner from scratch last night of Navajo tacos  with shreaded pork  and refried beans on homemade fry bread. There was a time back when we were fulltime RVers and always got together with friends and went to a Chinese buffet on Christmas, but the closest one is in Columbus, Mississippi, 40 miles west of us, and we didn’t have time with everything else that was going on.

Today I need to finish my free author’s newsletter announcing the new book and get it sent out to my subscribers. If you’d like to be added to the mailing list, send me your e-mail address at editor@gypsyjournal.net. I promise not to spam you or share your information with anybody else.

Now that the new book is out, I have a bunch of chores I need to get done around here, including draining the hot tub and cleaning it out and refilling it, installing the new Cove security system that came in a few days ago, and installing dash cameras in the Ram pickup and Chrysler Pacifica.

Travis and I also have a lot of limbs to be chipped from the downed trees we cleared up last week, and other downed trees on the back of the property to deal with. I also need to connect the bush hog to the Kubota tractor and get the perimeter road that has been blocked by downed trees since last summer back in shape. But that will have to wait a while, because we got a lot of rain Sunday night and Monday. and the ground is saturated. We won’t complain about that though, because we definitely needed it. Even with all the rain we got, we are still in a drought condition in this part of Alabama.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. Don’t they know some things can’t be rushed?

Thought For The Day – Christmas is all about gathering your dysfunctional family under one roof & praying the cops don’t get called.
