I’m back with more questions from blog readers about RVing, my writing activities, what’s happening in our lives since we hung up the keys, and all kinds of other things. While I try to answer all questions individually, I also share some here occasionally.
Q. A few years ago you wrote about some kind of supplement that you and Miss Terry were taking that helped your stiff joints. I remember getting some back then and being impressed at how much it helped me. But after my husband died and I sold the RV I had so many changes in my life that I lost track of what it was. Can you refresh my memory and are you still using it?
A. We take Now brand MSM, two capsules a night each, and yes, it continues to help us. If I miss taking it for a day or two, I am aware of it.
Q. Ever since I read the Four-Legged Compass blog saying that a study showed dogs poop facing east or west, I have been watching my border collie. I don’t think he got the message because he faces any direction to do his business. Do you think that study is correct?
A. I don’t know how accurate the study is. Maybe you need to calibrate your canine.
Q. You mentioned that you have not kept up with your normal writing schedule, and since I buy every book you put out the day you announce it, I have noticed it this last year. Please tell me you’re not quitting altogether? I love your books and you bring so much entertainment to the world with them.
A. No, I’m not quitting. I still have more books to write than I have years to write them in. But I’ll be 71 in a couple of weeks and I have slowed down somewhat to enjoy life away from my keyboard.
Q. Nick, do you collect your brass after shooting? I assume you do. How?
A. I pick all of it up that I can find after a shooting session, but usually miss a few. I don’t reload my own ammunition any more, but can always find someone who does who can use it. Who knows? I may set up another reloading bench one of these days if I find myself doing enough shooting.
Q. I’m considering a battery backup system for my computer, routers, modem, etc. I know you purchased one while in Florida and I was wondering what system you got? Appreciate you sharing that info.
A. I purchased a Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT 1500VA 900W UPS Battery Back Up from Amazon in 2018 and have been very pleased with it. Here is a link https://amzn.to/3ETM9W2 to the one I have. They make several models in different sizes, depending on your needs.
Q. You have not mentioned your friend Jim that you used to play darts with in a long time. Is he still with us?
A. Jim still lives in Florida, but unfortunately, he has been having quite a few health issues of late. Getting old is not for sissies.
And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. Does anyone else think they need to either change the name or the sign for this place?
Thought For The Day – If my grandfather were alive today he’d be trapped in a box underground. Horrible to think about, really.
Re: ‘Four Legged Compass…’ maybe herding dogs are de-coupled because of all their spinning. I have two Shetland Sheep dogs, and having nothing better to do when I take them out, I’ve been checking their alignment too. Sadly, they have none! They are really good at herding spins before dinner, though.
