Just how humid does it get here in Alabama in the summertime? A couple of days ago I left my ThermoPro digital thermometer out on the back deck overnight, and this is what I saw when I went took Alli out early the next foggy morning. It didn’t stay that cool for very long. By 9 o’clock it was over 80 degrees, and I think the humidity was down to about 70%. Which made it even more uncomfortable. ☹

Speaking of Alli, here’s a warning for other dog owners. I ordered a Wobble Wag Giggle Ball for her from Amazon and she loved it. If she nudged it with her nose or paw it would roll across the floor and make funny noises that kept her intrigued and chasing it around for hours.

Unfortunately, within 24 hours she had chewed a big hole in it and had a piece of the plastic in her mouth. I’m sure glad we saw it before she had a chance to swallow it. That could have been disastrous. You can bet that toy went into the trash right away! It might be a great toy for smaller dogs, but for a large, aggressive chewer like Alli it’s downright dangerous!

Not sure she hadn’t managed to swallow any tiny pieces of the plastic, we watched her carefully for the next 24 hours but she was her happy, healthy self.

I finished making Terry’s edits to the last few chapters of Big Lake Assault yesterday afternoon, then sent them off to Judy and Roberta to proofread. It is definitely a story with a lot of twists and turns along the way that I didn’t see coming, but Terry said it came together very well at the end. I’m eager to get it out and see what other readers say.

Once I was finished with that, I set up the Blink indoor security camera system that I had ordered from Amazon during Prime Days. I have tinkered with a lot of different security systems in my time, and I’m impressed with this one. The have a two year battery life, motion detection, and two way audio. It’s easy and inexpensive to add extra cameras, a video doorbell, or even outdoor cameras. I have not been happy with the security system that was in the house when we bought it, and as soon as our contract is up next year we will be canceling it and going with something that is more user-friendly and affordable.

Congratulations Max Stuckey, winner of our drawing for an audiobook of Koinobi, the first book in the Koinobi Trilogy, by Reid Minnich. How far would you go to help a parasitic insect from the stars? Tweeskzaht nudges human civilization and technology forward from the shadows. Unaware of the war in the stars above it, Earth is in the cross-hairs of both sides. To save her adopted home, she must reveal herself to a small band of humans. Will Mike’s self-sacrifice, Kindra’s cunning, and David’s intelligence be enough to save Earth from becoming a hunting ground? Find out in this sci-fi thriller.

We had 11 entries this time around. Stay tuned, a new contest starts soon. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books and audiobooks to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed. After 90 days, unclaimed prizes revert back to the drawing pool for a future contest.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. There are so many things wrong with this that I don’t know where to start.

Thought For The Day – I hate it when cashiers check my money to see if it is real. If I could make counterfeit money I wouldn’t be shopping at the Dollar Tree.
