In case any of you have been hiding under a rock and don’t know, in addition to all of the things she does around the house, from installing microwave ovens and splash guards to hanging window blinds, putting together bar stools, and gardening, Miss Terry cooks, too.
And that’s what she did most of yesterday, creating a wonderfully delicious dinner of spaghetti with homemade sauce and homemade meatballs along with hand grated Parmesan cheese that was so good I wanted to lick the plate when I was done. I have very little sense of smell, but every once in a while when I walked through the kitchen I would catch a brief whiff of what she was cooking and it made me drool.
I spent most of the day writing another chapter in my new Tinder Street book, as well as making the corrections to several previous chapters that my first proofreader, Judy Rinehimer sent back to me. Judy is in Hawaii on a cruise, but she still took the time to do that and get them back to me before they set sail today. Is it called setting sail if you’re on a cruise ship and not a sailboat? I’ll have to ask my friend Ken Rossignol, author of the Marsha & Danny Jones thrillers, which are set on cruise ships, along with a bunch of other excellent books, many with a historical and seafaring theme.
In my constant efforts to protect Terry’s garden from deer and other critters, I used up some of my accumulated Amazon points to order a pair of Lubatis Animal Repellers that have with motion sensors to detect movements and emit an ultrasonic sound to scare away animals. I set one up on each end of the garden and we’ll see what happens. Some people have told me things like that are worthless, but they do have a very high rating on Amazon, so I figured it was worth a shot.
We are also going to run into town today to get some more deer fence and poles to enclose the garden area. We have a seven foot high deer fence around the fruit trees and blueberry bushes and so far nothing has bothered them, and the bushes are full of berries waiting to ripen.
The second raised garden bed that Terry had ordered finally arrived, so I imagine sometime this week she will be putting that together and we will get it in place and fill it up with fertilizer and soil and get it ready to plant. We do manage to keep busy around here.
Congratulations Ray Wallace, winner of our drawing for a USB drive loaded with all of the digital back issues of the Gypsy Journal RV travel newspaper for the years 2003 through 2017. They are in PDF format and will provide you with weeks of great reading about places to visit from coast to coast and our adventures as fulltime RVers. The normal cost of the back issue collection is $75. We had 56 entries this time around. Stay tuned, a new contest starts soon! Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed.
And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us.
Thought For The Day – One of the nicest things you can say to your wife or husband is, “If I had to do it over again, I’d choose you again.”
Now that’s a funny sign.
Just curious, Nick, now that you are a farmer, do you wear plaid shirst and overalls?
