I’m back with more questions from blog readers about RVing, my writing activities, what’s happening in our lives since we hung up the keys, and all kinds of other things. While I try to answer all questions individually, I also share some here occasionally.
Q. We are touring the US for a year from Ireland. We want to visit Mackinac Island, Michigan. I was told there is a ferry service from the mainland to the island. Do you know if the ferry can accommodate our 24 foot Class C camper, and would we have to make reservations in advance?
A. Except for emergency vehicles, no automobiles are allowed on the island. Stay in one of the local campgrounds and board one of the pedestrian ferries to get to the island. If you have bicycles, they are a great way to get around once on the island.
Q. I only get your blog a day late. I was getting it on the proper day, but for some weird computer reason, now I only get the previous day’s blog. Sometimes if I click on “home” on your website I do get the correct day’s blog, but normally, all I get is the one for the previous day. Can you help?
A. This is an issue that nobody seems to be able to explain. It happens to some readers and not others, and the tech people have no idea why. The best they can say is to refresh your computer’s cache and see if that helps. However, if you get a blog from the previous day, try this. Click on the blog’s title, in this case, A Lady With Integrity circled in purple. When the new page opens, in the upper right side of the blog, there should be a link to the next day’s blog, in this case Good For Old Farts circled in red. Click that to go to the current blog.
Q. A while back, you raved about an office chair. Can’t find it in our archived e-mails. Could you be so kind to provide us with the information?
A. Here is a link to the blog post about my Lifeform chair. After three years, it is just as comfortable as the day I bought it. https://www.gypsyjournalrv.com/2019/09/more-than-a-vega/
Q. We are RV snowbirds and want to explore the Texas Gulf Coast this winter. Are you familiar with Rockport and Aransas Pass, and do you have any recommendations for RV parks in that area?
A. We have spent quite a bit of time in that area, and it is one of our favorites. The communities and the people are very RV friendly. There are quite a few RV parks to choose from. We liked Southern Oaks, Crooked Oaks, and Aransas Bay RV Resort, among others.
Q. I seem to recall that at some point you bought a pressure washer for your RV and cars. What kind was it and do you recommend it? I need something small enough to fit in my motorhome’s storage bays.
A. It is a Karcher pressure washer and it has served us well. We had no problem carrying it in one of the bays of our Winnebago diesel pusher.
And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us.
Congratulations Jenise Harper, winner of our drawing for a printed copy of Skin of the Night, the first book in C.K. Bennett’s Night series. A top law student’s main priority is her career and she avoids anything that can get in the way of that, especially romance. She is a woman who doesn’t need a man to feel complete. Then a dashing lawyer with a clever but merciless tongue puts her convictions on trial, and she finds it hard to resist him. But being together could have disastrous consequences. Packed with complex characters, steamy scenes and cheeky dialogue, The Night series is sure to take you on a journey of laughter, frustration, tears, and deep reflections you won’t forget anytime soon.
We had 47 entries this time around. Stay tuned, a new contest starts soon. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books and audiobooks to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed.
Thought For The Day – I really need a speed bump between my brain and my mouth.
I also no longer get your direct blog but all I do is click on it from my Facebook page. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.
For some reason, I’m no longer getting your daily blog. Do I need to sign up again? Hope you’re faring well through Ian. SKP hugs, Katy Smith
