One Down, One To Go

Terry’s appointment for her cataract surgery was scheduled for 10:45 yesterday morning. We arrived about half an hour early, sat in the van for a few minutes, and at 10:25 she called the front desk as instructed and they told her to come on in. We went inside and within about 5 minutes they took her back. Based on my own cataract surgeries as well as our daughter and other people we know, I didn’t expect it to take very long. As it turned out, I was wrong.

The doctor was running late and didn’t even arrive until 12:15, and at 12:40 they began they finally wheeled her in for the procedure. Fortunately, one of the nurses kept me updated on what was going on and why it was taking so long.

When she was finally done, about 1 p.m., we came back home and didn’t do much for the rest of the day. Neither of us got a lot of sleep the night before, so I snoozed in my recliner for about an hour or so, then we had a light dinner and watched a little bit of television before bedtime.

Terry has a post-op appointment at 9 o’clock this morning, and then she goes back in two weeks to have her left eye done. As I write this, close to midnight, her eye is still irritated and scratchy, which is to be expected. But I’m sure she’s going to be very pleased with the end result.

And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. This one comes from our friend Diane Melde, who saw it in Westport, Washington.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for campground reviews, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day.

To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed.

Thought For The Day – I’m not so sure about an inner child, but I have an inner idiot that surfaces every now and then.
