A Big Project

Terry has been busy trying to finish a big weaving project before we leave on our trip, a throw blanket for Kenny, our son-in-law. When she finally took it off the loom yesterday and stretched it out, still folded, on the floor in her loom room, it measured 65×95 inches. She had to make it big because Kenny is a giant. He’s something like six feet and a gazillion inches tall.

Here it is stretched out on our bed. Today Terry will finish the edges and wet finish and block it. She tells me that since it is 100% virgin Shetland wool, it will shrink a bit. Does that happen with Shetland sheep, too? If they get wet, do they turn into gerbils?

This was a double weave project, in that the blanket is so wide it was woven folded in half on the loom. Don’t ask me how she does it. I have Velcro closures on my shoes because I get my finger caught trying to tie a knot.

I finished the last of the corrections for the recent chapters I wrote in my new John Lee Quarrels book yesterday, then cranked out another 2,500 words or so.

And some good news, at least for the last two days. By cutting the Delta 8 gummies in half and taking one every six hours or so, I have been able to keep the back pain under control enough that I can tolerate it. And by portioning it out over time, I don’t feel wasted like I did when I first tried them a few days ago. I’d much rather go this route than use the prescription opioids I try so hard to avoid.
