Note: I was working on this blog Tuesday night when the power went out throughout our area and was off for several hours. It was due to a drunk driver hitting a power pole and taking it down. The driver walked away from the accident, but a young woman riding with him was tragically burned to death before rescuers could get to her. I hope that idiot gets the harshest punishment possible under the law.
I can’t tell you how long I have been online friends with Aaron Borovoy, but it’s been many years. Until fairly recently, he lived in the San Diego area, and several years ago, when we were in California, we had agreed to get together for lunch one day. Instead, I wound up in the hospital in Temecula dealing with an attack of pancreatitis that kept me there for a week. So that planned meet-up never happened, and we haven’t been back in that area since then.
These days Aaron and his husband Peter Ambrose are trying the fulltime RVing thing, and though they have had quite a few setbacks because of unfortunate problems with their motorhome, they have kept their sense of humor and adventure. When Aaron reached out to me a few months ago to say that they would be in our area for a few days and asked if we’d like to get together, I told him that Terry and I couldn’t wait.
We met them Tuesday evening at the Dustin’s Bar-B-Q in Edgewater, and immediately the four of us hit it off. So much so that we were there four hours, talking about everything from RVing to the state of the union, sharing laughs and stories that made the time fly by. Hopefully, Aaron (sitting across from Terry) and Peter (across from me) will have a chance to stop by the house before they leave our area. They are a wonderful couple that we have enjoyed getting to know in person.
Someone asked me how things have been going on the dictation end of things now that I have upped the speed of our Internet connection. I’ve been so busy with other things that I haven’t done a lot except for the blog, but everything I see has been positive so far. I ordered a set of headphones from Amazon to use with my new Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, and when they arrived the other day, the outside package looked good, but the headphones themselves were trashed. The foam earpad on one side was torn almost completely off, and one of the wires was broken or cut. I contacted Amazon, and they told me to send them back and immediately sent out a replacement pair which should be here today.
One reason I haven’t gotten into any heavy-duty writing yet is that my daughter Tiffany and her daughter Destiny are scheduled to arrive for a visit next week, and I don’t want to get started on a project and then have to stop while they are here. During their visit, spending lots of quality time with them is our first priority
It’s Thursday, so it’s time for a new Free Drawing. This week’s prize is a copy of the new hardcover edition of the RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for campground reviews, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day.
To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed.
