Beyond Stuffed

If you are like us I’m sure you were beyond stuffed by the end of the day yesterday. I wasn’t able to step on the bathroom scale this morning because when it saw me coming it started running.

Friends invited us for Thanksgiving dinner, and what a meal it was! They provided the turkey and mashed potatoes and the rest of the main meal, while Terry made German stuffing, cranberry relish, homemade dinner rolls, and three pies – pecan, pumpkin, and apple.

We had a good time eating and visiting, and by the time we waddled out the door we both swore that we would never eat again. Well at least not until breakfast this morning! I hope your Thanksgiving was just as good.

Besides her Aerogarden, which is producing lots of different herbs and some kind of leaf lettuce, Terry also got a couple of big planters to put outside. She planted cucumber and tomato in one of them, and those cucumbers are really starting to grow!

When I came out the door the other day I noticed that they had all kinds of yellow flowers on them, and they’re sending out climbing vines that wrap themselves around the tomato cage stuck down into the planter.

My dad always said he was a farmer at heart, and my son Travis inherited his green thumb. I think my dad would have been very proud of my son and my wife. I know I sure am!

With Thanksgiving out of the way, everybody is already looking forward to Christmas. But for us folks here in Florida, there’s another special event coming up in just four days. November 30th marks the end of our annual hurricane season, and though this year has been very good for us here on the Atlantic Coast of the Sunshine State, it’s always a time for a huge collective sigh of relief. Until next year.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for campground reviews, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day. To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. Note: Due to the high shipping cost of printed books and Amazon restrictions on e-books to foreign countries, only entries with US addresses and e-mail addresses are allowed.

Thought For The Day – With all these self-driving vehicles becoming available, it’s only a matter of time before there’s a country song where some guy’s pickup truck leaves him.
