Yesterday I was formatting the e-book version of Big Lake Shootout, and when I was about halfway through, my darned computer froze up. I had to reboot it before I could work anymore, and since I broke one of my own rules and hadn’t saved very much as I went, I lost about half of what I had accomplished. I was so frustrated I had to take a break from things for an hour or so and went and sat in my recliner and watched a rerun of Lone Star Law. Terry swears I was sleeping, but if I was, I slept through that part and don’t remember. Then I went back at it, and this time everything went smoothly. I uploaded the e-book to Amazon, and a few hours later it was live and available to purchase at this link.
This is my 46th book, the 20th book in my Big Lake series, and my third new book this year. I had hoped to have this book out by the end of June, but with my kids visiting I got thrown off schedule. But that’s all right, that time is precious and I’d rather spend it with them than writing books. I usually release four books a year, though last year I put out six books because we were locked down due to COVID. I don’t know if I’ll make it to six books again this year, but I will definitely get out at least two more.
I will probably take a break for a couple of days and then get to work on my next book in the John Lee Quarrels series, Ka-Bar Karma. But since it’s too hot to do much outside, and I get bored and eat too much when I’m not working, it won’t be a long break, I’m sure.
Speaking of eating, I have been craving some of Miss Terry’s delicious homemade overnight yeasted browned butter waffles, so she made me some for yesterday morning. As always, they were melt in your mouth delicious. As much as I love them, it’s probably good that she only makes them occasionally, because otherwise I would be so fat I couldn’t walk out the door. I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to good food, and nobody cooks like Terry does.
Somebody asked if Terry is still growing things in her AeroGarden. Oh yes, she’s always got lots of fresh herbs that she’s grown and dried, and here is a bunch of leafy veggies that are getting close to being ready to harvest.
