I think we must be getting old. I said in yesterday’s blog that we had hoped to finish planting the last 17 of the perennial peanut plants we had left to go, but it turned out that didn’t happen.
We both woke up so sore and stiff that just getting out of bed was a challenge. Poor Terry, who had done the brunt of the work, was really feeling it. She’s not one to complain, I am in charge of sniveling around here, but she didn’t try to hide the fact that she was hurting. We decided to wait a day or so to get some of those sore muscles relaxed before we go back to it.
Even if we had been up to finishing the planting, it rained most of the day yesterday. Sometimes it came down hard and other times it wasn’t much more than a sprinkle, but it pretty much came down all day long and into the overnight hours. And today doesn’t look any better.
Unfortunately, the rain will start easing up a bit Tuesday and Wednesday, but that’s when the temperatures are supposed to be back up in the mid-80s. Terry tells me that the remaining plants will be just fine in their pots for another week or two if necessary, so I guess there’s no need to rush.
Even though I didn’t have much energy yesterday, I did manage to write about 3,000 words in my new Big Lake book. But by the time I finished, the words were swimming on the computer screen and I just didn’t have it in me to go back and proofread anything. I’ll try to get that done first thing today and go from there. I’ll tell you what, whoever said this getting old stuff is not for sissies knew what they were talking about!
And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. I think this one is appropriate, given today’s blog.
