I’ll tell you what, self-isolating may not be very exciting for some people but it sure has helped me get a lot of work done. Yesterday I beat my own personal record. I started working at noon and by the time I knocked off at 6:15 I had written (actually dictated) 12,050 words, and I finished The Road To Wrinkle Ranch. It took me just over a month from start to finish. I began working on it March 6 and finished April 8.
It came in at 92,300 words before I start my first read through for any glaring problems, and then the editing/proofing process will begin. It will go through three different proofreaders, so it will be another week or a bit longer before the book goes live, but I will be making the announcement here, in my author’s newsletter, and on social media once it does.
While I was doing that. Miss Terry was busy at her sewing machine, making four more masks for when we have to leave the house. She revised the pattern to make the ones for me fit better and cover more of my beard.
We have not left the house in nearly two weeks, but today we will probably have to run out to pick up a prescription, and maybe some milk and a couple of other things we’re running low on. But then we’ll be back home and back to our very comfortable self-isolation.
It’s Thursday, so it’s time for a new Free Drawing, and we’ve got another great prize this week. My friend Jim O’Briant has donated a 3-year subscription (valued at $89.97, based on the one year rate) to www.OvernightRVParking.com. This is a great resource for RVers, listing well over 13,000 free places where you can park overnight, and it could be yours free if you’re our lucky winner. If the winner is already a subscriber, Jim will add 3 full years to their existing subscription. To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.
And finally, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. I’m so glad the fish are live, because dead nude fish are such a turnoff.
Thought For The Day – Before healing someone, ask him if he’s ready to give up those things which make him ill. – Hippocrates
That’s 1,298 words per hour…. Sounds like a nice day!
YAY, so that means another book in about a month and a half????? If these were printed paperback books, how thick would they be? Like James Patterson thickness or the cheapy romance books. # of words doesn’t connect with me…….
Hey, Nick…….. where are you this morning? It’s Friday, 6:45 am, and no new blog. Missing you!
