Every time I go to Facebook I see posts from people who are complaining about being bored because they are shut in due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Terry and I were discussing that last night, and we just can’t relate to what they are talking about. For us, it’s life as usual, with a few exceptions.
While we are not going out to restaurants or anyplace else except to pick up groceries once in the past two weeks, nothing has really changed for us. We have always been quite content to be at home and we never get tired of each other’s company. And we’ve certainly got more than enough going on to keep us from being bored!
I completed my latest John Lee Quarrels book, The Road to Wrinkle Ranch, a few days ago, and yesterday I finished my first read through of it, correcting any obvious errors I saw. Now Miss Terry is proofreading and editing it and moving right along.
While she’s doing that, I am making corrections she suggested, and I need to do all of the pre-launch chores that a new book release requires. The first order of business will be to write the teaser chapter for the next book in the series, which will be included in the back of this one. Then I have to get my author’s newsletter ready to send out as soon as the book is live on Amazon, send out notices to several book blogs that are always gracious enough to help me announce a new release, start planning the formatting, and all sorts of other things.
I always tell people who want to start writing books that in this day and age, you not only have to be an author, you also have to be an entrepreneur who wears many hats, including arranging for a cover, formatting and production, marketing and promotions, and a bunch of other things.
Our schedule has never been in sync with the rest of the world. We seldom get to bed before 2 AM, and then we cuddle for a while, so it’s usually another half hour or so before we fall asleep. Which means we normally wake up around 10 AM, sometimes a little later. After our breakfast, Terry goes to her office and checks her email and reads the news online, while I do the same in mine, then we work on whatever projects we have planned for the day. We usually knock off for dinner between 5 PM and 6 PM, then watch television for a while, and I write the blog after the evening news.
For her part, Terry is always busy proofing things I am writing, handling all of the paperwork required for the business end of things, planning and cooking our meals, doing laundry and a hundred other tasks necessary to keep our house running smoothly. No, we just don’t have any time to be bored!

Yea us too, Nick…I am always behind in fact…never caught up…heh, esp since we now have to cook more from scratch than ever (even tho most of my meals are from scratch already). A friend asked me to write a book on his life today…but I simply don’t have the time…guess I need to make some to help him however. Bored? When will that be?? Plus Hubby and I love watching programs on youtube of how folks live in other places and countries now that we are too old to travel anymore. And you know for the holidays this year if we hope to have a few pennies to spend on loved ones, it might be we need to make our gifts this year as never before.
