Yesterday was a good writing day for me. After spending an hour or so going over and making corrections to the 2,000 or so words that I wrote on Friday, I got busy and cranked out another 8,300 words. That puts me somewhere around the 40% mark in this book, which I started July 15. My neighbor, Chris Fisher, said he doesn’t even think he knows that many words. I told them I don’t either, I just use the same 50 words over and over again.
While I was doing that, Miss Terry was busy with paperwork, laundry, and some other chores, and then she made a delicious dinner of chicken samosas, which are little pockets of pastry filled with spiced chopped chicken and then fried. It’s an Indian dish that she picked up from our friend Gita Patel who, along with her husband Bob, owns Elkhart Campground in Indiana. They are dear friends from our fulltime RVing days and we have spent many, many happy weeks parked at their campground.
I mentioned my friend Chris above. He’s an auctioneer and a great neighbor, but having an auctioneer for a neighbor can be problematic sometimes because he is always coming up with some kind of goodie that I didn’t know I needed until I saw it.
At one of his online auctions that ended last week I picked up three interesting things, the first of which was this old set of manacles. They will go good with my police badge collection.
I’ve always wanted a Ka-Bar knife. They have a time-tested reputation for strength and reliability. When I saw this one, which is a Vietnam Memorial commemorative, I couldn’t help but make a bid on it. And I was surprised at the great deal I got.
The other item I got at the auction up was this nice pair of Sea Bowld marine binoculars to keep on the pontoon boat. When we are out on the water we see everything from dolphins and manatee to all kinds of interesting birds, and I think they’ll come in handy.
I’ve had several comments from people about the medical stuff I shared with you yesterday, including some of the suggestions the doctors are considering to further relieve my back pain. I appreciate everybody’s concern and you sharing your experiences. It all helps with the decision-making process.
Today is your last chance to enter our Free Drawing for an RV camping journal donated by Barbara House. Barbara makes several variations of these, and they all have pages where you can list the date, weather, where you traveled to and from that day, beginning and ending mileage, campground information including amenities at RV sites, a place for a campground rating, room to record activities, people met along the way, reminders of places to see and things to do the next time you’re in the area, and a page for notes for each day. To enter, click on this Free Drawing Link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening. The winner will be drawn this evening.
Thought For The Day – Remember when you were little and you could take off all of your clothes and run around naked and everybody thought it was cute and funny? Anyway, I need bail money.
