Nothing, Nada, Zilch. That’s exactly what I plan on doing this weekend. After weeks of running back and forth to doctors’ offices, emergency rooms and hospitals and such, I’m hoping for a do-nothing weekend. I brought our friend home from the hospital yesterday and he is doing well so far, and Beverly is going to be in rehab for as much as two weeks, so we don’t have anything going on that I know of at this point. I told Terry I might turn off the telephones, keep the blinds closed, and ignore anybody who knocks on the door, just in case. We both mentioned last night that we feel like we did when we were running one of our RV rallies, pulled in six directions at once and trying to keep everything on an even keel.

Not that we begrudge any of the time we have spent helping other people deal with their issues lately, and we would happily do it all over again. And probably will, before it’s all said and done. But maybe, just maybe, we’ll get lucky and have a couple of days to decompress.

We have been running our free drawings here in the blog for several years now, and for the most part people have been very nice about it. They follow the rules, occasionally thank me when they win, and have even been known to leave a review for an audiobook they won. But every once in a while we run into somebody who just takes all the fun out of it. Like the people (yes, more than one) who win a prize and then ask if they can have the cash equivalent instead because they really didn’t want it. Then why enter?

Yesterday I had someone who took it to another level. He said he has been entering the contest every week for over a year now and still hasn’t won. He said he was really hoping for the Kindle Fire we gave away a couple of weeks ago and asked how he could up his chances of winning. I told him it’s totally random and that anybody who enters has as much chance as the next person. He then replied that he might as well stop entering then, he never reads the stupid $^*# blog anyway, he only comes to it when there was a new prize listing. No problem, buddy, things may be totally random, but I can assure you that you won’t have to bother entering again.

In other news, what do you think of Miss Terry’s new T-shirt? Yeah, she’s got a husband like that.

And in closing, here’s a chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an audiobook of The Gecko In The Corner, the second book in my John Lee Quarrels series. To enter, click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.

Thought For The Day – The Lord moves in mysterious ways, but you don’t have to. Please use your turn signals.

  1. I thought the T shirt was the funny pic….

I was a lucky ((every day) reader a good while back.
My prize was the book 50 states Gun Laws !
I don’t own any but a friend had just asked me if I knew anything about traveling with his…….I entered and whaddaya know ? I WON !

He couldn’t have been happier when I gave it to him !

The entry #s are usually so small that the odds are great IMO !
Some folks just don’t get it !

    OK , I’m out of exclamation points…..
Love what you do Bud (Nick) .
    Enjoy your “easy” day.

  2. Your Blog is the first one we read every morning. That Jerk sounds like some of the ones we met during the Government Shutdown who were getting services without buying the permit. Or the one’s that set up Camp in Walmart Parking Lots. Wonder why lots are no longer allowing overnight parking.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It’s about time.

  3. LOVE the T-shirt! I recently bought a little refrigerator magnet that displays the information “Counting to 10 only makes it premeditated.”

    Good advice.

  4. I’m sorry you have to deal with stupid and ungrateful people. And I love Miss Terry’s shirt!

  5. Barbara Cormack

  6. I always read your blog but almost never enter. I did today but do not see my name on the list when checking.

  7. I was hoping after your post on face book about your great encounter at the restaurant the other night, BAD NICK might show up. I liked the way you handled it. Also your answer about your give a way’s, I agree, cut your losses. Your new book is 10 stars great job.:-)
