I have been saying happy birthday to different women in my family all week here in the blog, and I told you that there were more to come. And sure enough, there are! Today we celebrate not just one birthday, but two of them.

My cousins Bernie (above) and Beverly (below) share the same birthday, although not the same birth year. These are two very special ladies in my life and I love them both very much. Happy birthday, girls.

Well, the big storm that we were expecting yesterday hit all around us, with everything from high winds and heavy rain to lightning strikes, and I believe a tornado also touched down somewhere in Central Florida. But as seems to happen more often than not, most of it missed us. We got a couple of brief downpours that didn’t last very long, some thunder and lightning, and some wind. But nothing to cause us any concern. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve braced for a big storm and seen it split and go north and south and miss us completely. I’m not complaining, mind you. That’s just fine with me.

I had hoped that by now I might have several chapters done in my next Big Lake book, but between running back and forth to doctors’ appointments for us and Beverly, spending time at the hospital with a friend, and dealing with a nasty cold, I haven’t gotten any writing done except for the daily blog. I hope to remedy that this weekend and get some real work done.

Speaking of our colds, several people have contacted me to say that they hope Terry and I are feeling better. I think I’m on the upswing from mine, but Terry is a day or so behind me and still feeling pretty nasty. I sure hope she gets better soon!

But even being sick doesn’t slow Miss Terry down one bit. In spite of how she felt, yesterday she still managed to make a delicious meal of homemade shredded beef tacos and refried beans. I swear, that girl is like the Energizer Bunny; no matter what happens she keeps going, and going, and going. And today she plans to make Beverly a coconut cake for her birthday! Honest to God, I don’t know where she gets her energy.
