Definition of potpourri – 1: a mixture of flowers, herbs, and spices that is usually kept in a jar and used for scent. 2: a miscellaneous collection. The second definition above pretty much describes today’s blog, a collection of miscellaneous thoughts and info that I’m sharing because I really don’t have anything else to talk about today.

This is a weird time of year because the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) are over, but they’re not really over because we still have New Year’s. The good news is that if you start missing all of the holiday hype, you won’t have to wait long for more. A friend was at his local big box store yesterday and they were already putting up their Valentine’s Day displays.

For us, New Year’s will be just like Christmas was, spending it quietly at home. Neither of us are the type to go to bars to party, and we don’t have a lot of friends here to get together with. But that’s okay, we don’t need much of that to keep us happy.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I don’t because I have failed myself so many times in my life that I just can’t handle one more letdown. But if you do, I’m curious what yours might be.

Yesterday I had the third injection in my back, the first was in a facet joint and the next two were in my sacroiliac (SI) joints. I still get some pain, but between the injections and the medical marijuana oil, things are much better, for the most part. Although I still do have some bad days now and then. Wednesday and yesterday were good examples, I was back to using my cane and hobbling around. I haven’t had to do that for a while.

As of midnight last night, my buddy Greg White’s Our RV Adventures blog is still down. I talked to Greg yesterday evening and he’s understandably very frustrated, since this has been going on five or six days now. He’s talked to the folks at Go Daddy so many times I believe they are on a first name basis by now. This happened to us several years ago and I know what a pain it can be. Here’s hoping something gets resolved soon, Greg.

Two people wrote to ask me if they didn’t win this week’s drawing for a USB drive loaded with digital back issues of the Gypsy Journal for the years 2003 through 2017 if they are available to purchase. Yes. they are. The cost is $75, which includes postage. You can order by logging onto www.PayPal.com and making payment to editor@GypsyJournal.net

And finally, here’s another chuckle to start your day from the collection of funny signs we see in our travels and that our readers share with us. I have heard that some people find this one objectionable. All I can say is, those folks never met my ex.

Be sure to enter our latest Free Drawing. This week’s prize is a USB drive loaded with digital back issues of the Gypsy Journal for the years 2003 through 2017. They are in PDF format and will provide you with weeks of great reading about places to visit from coast to coast and our adventures as fulltime RVers. The normal cost of the back issue collection is $75. To enter, all you have to do is click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name (first and last) in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.

  1. The only New Year’s Resolution I ever kept was to stop making New Year’s Resolutions.

  2. Love the Thought For The Day — funny/sad, and true…
