Yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing. And no, Santa Claus is not coming to town. Better than that, it’s another jolly chubby guy with a beard. And this one can fix things!
Our friends Greg and Jan White will be here next week and we are really looking forward to seeing them because it has been a while. We’ve had some wonderful adventures together over the years and we are hoping to get into a few more while they’re here.
But back to the list. I do believe Greg is the smartest guy I know on many levels, one of them being his amazing ability to fix anything electrical or mechanical that I can figure out a way to break. When we were fulltiming we often traveled and parked together for weeks at a time, so most of my equipment received regular maintenance from Greg. Early on I felt just the tiniest bit guilty asking him to do so much work, but Jan assured me that Greg loves a challenge and I was doing her a favor by keeping him busy. Well Lord knows, I just want to help them maintain their happy marriage! And now I’ve got a whole house for him to mess with! Oh yeah, I’m making a list!
In other news, Terry finished the first round of editing and proofreading my new book, then the second proofreader did her thing, and now it’s moved on to the next two proofreaders. I had hoped to have it out by this past weekend, but obviously we didn’t make that deadline. It should only be a few days now.
With a little time on my hands before I begin formatting the new book, I’ve been catching up on email and other tasks that sometimes get pushed aside when I’m on a deadline. If you emailed me about something in the last week or so and didn’t get a response, I apologize. I’m playing catch-up now and I think I’ve about got them all handled.
I’ve also been laying out the first chapter of the next John Lee Quarrels book in my head, which will be attached to the end of this one as a teaser. And, of course, all the details of the next Big Lake book are running around inside my head, too, competing for attention. No wonder I have trouble sleeping with all that noise going on inside my skull!
To escape for a while, yesterday we went to the Sea Shack in New Smyrna Beach for dinner. The food is always great there, and Sunday and Wednesday are Customer Appreciation Days, with many items on the menu at half price. Great food at sale prices, how can you go wrong? Afterwards, we took a drive down the beach. It’s always nice to get a dose of salt air right off the water into our lungs.
The fact that young women are running around there wearing those skimpy bathing suits is just an extra benefit. One that Jim and I appreciate.
Congratulations Judy Rinehimer, winner of our drawing for a one year subscription to www.OvernightRVParking.com. This is a great resource for RVers, listing well over 13,000 free places where you can park overnight. We had 133 entries this time around. Stay tuned, a new contest starts soon.
Thought For The Day – I think it’s called almond milk because nobody can say nut juice with a straight face.
Glad to hear you took some time for you and Terri.
