My dad always used to say that the only thing guaranteed about life is that it is constantly changing. What was true yesterday may not be real today, and what we think is impossible today might become reality tomorrow.
And so it is with one of the most popular RV resources that I know of, John and Kathy Huggins’ long running weekly Living The RV Dream podcast. Yesterday, John and Kathy announced the end of their RV lifestyle podcast with show number 408.
The podcast began as the Living The RV Dream radio show in Sarasota, Florida in late 2008, and they took it to a podcast in the spring of 2009. Much like my daily blog and my Meandering Down The Highway column in the Gypsy Journal, John and Kathy’s show was a chronicle of their lives as fulltime RVers. They filled the podcasts with interviews with RVers and people from the RV industry, helpful tips, and plenty of excellent RVing advice. John and Kathy are dear friends of ours, and Terry and I were honored to be interviewed by them several times over the years.
Along the way, John and Kathy wrote two excellent books on RVing, became seminar speakers at RV rallies around the country, including our own Gypsy Journal rallies, and hosted two of their very own living the RV Dream rallies along the way. Here they are entertaining the crowd at one of their seminars, which always drew a large attendance.
Unfortunately, two years ago Kathy was suddenly stricken with a complication from an earlier surgery and things were touch and go for it while there. With a lot of prayer, a lot of love, and a strong will to survive, Kathy pulled through. But there were life changing consequences that forced them to give up the RV lifestyle, and they have now settled into a home near their son in the Sarasota area. A recent further complication convinced them that it was time to end their podcasts.
Even though the weekly podcast by John and Kathy has ended, they will continue their popular Living The RV Dream website, their Living The RV Dream Facebook group, which has nearly 40,000 members, and John is working on another RV book. A complete set of all the podcasts as well as the radio show recordings is still available on their website, www.livingthervdream.com.
And though they are no longer going to be doing the weekly podcast, John and Kathy have handed over the reins to Robert Morales, the producer of the very popular RV videos called Traveling Robert. He will be producing the show with the name of Living the RV Dream with Traveling Robert, and John told me that he and Kathy will occasionally guest host with Robert. Thank you for your many contributions to the RV world, John and Kathy. We love you and we cherish the memories of all the good times we’ve had together, and look forward to seeing you again soon. You two have definitely left your mark on the world and in the hearts of tens of thousands of RVers around the country.
