Sometimes I wonder how two people who live in a 40 foot motorhome can accumulate so much stuff, but somehow we manage to do it. And every so often we have to go through everything and declutter. It’s that time of year, and Miss Terry has been doing some spring cleaning, throwing out stuff and setting more aside to take to Goodwill. We have to make room for more stuff that will eventually find its way inside our Winnebago, one way or the other.
Terry said it can be intimidating, but it’s just like eating an elephant, you take it one bite at a time. Our friend Brenda Speidel is the queen of organization, and if you’re having trouble trying to figure out how to get your rig in order, check out her handy little guide on Amazon, 50 Ideas To Help Keep Your RV Organized, Clean, and Decluttered.
I spent much of yesterday chained to my desk. First I had to talk to a coordinator from the VA’s Traveling Vet program to try to arrange the tests my doctor back in Tucson wants me to have while we’re here. Then I had a call from the pharmacist at the VA hospital in Tucson to go over the three meds I am on, just to check to see if everything is working right. I guess it is, since I’m able to sit up and take nourishment every morning.
Much of the rest of my time yesterday was spent writing, and I knocked out another 2,500 words in my current book. Since it’s set in 1965 – 66, I find myself spending a lot of time doing research, looking up things like what songs were in the Top 10 in a given week or what kind of topics were happening in the world that people were talking about.
Speaking of books, my friend romance author Mona Ingram has just released Forever In My Heart, the sixth book in her Forever Series. Mona is a fine writer and an all-around wonderful person, and her fans love her books. Check them out and I bet you’ll become a fan, too.
Another friend of mine, blogger and fulltime RVer Malia Lane, has been dealing with a failing Norcold refrigerator in her motorhome and she has learned a lot about just how dangerous the darned things can be. You can read all about it in her Malia’s Miles blog.
Sometime in the afternoon I went out to dump our black tank and saw my friend Charles Yust puttering around outside his motorhome. I went over to ask him what he was up to, and he said one of the two electronic toilets in their Entegra Anthem wasn’t working. Later on, when we were all going to dinner, Charles said the problem was a blown fuse. I can’t help but think that if you’re blowing fuses when you go to the bathroom, you’ve got way too much roughage in your diet!
About 6 o’clock we picked up Charles and Chris and went to a nice little Italian restaurant called Wheat+Water Italian Kitchen, located in a strip shopping center a couple of miles away. Everything was delicious and it will definitely get added to our guide to Favorite Restaurants.
It’s Thursday and that means it’s time for a new Free Drawing. This week’s prize is a biggie! Thought For the Day – A mistake repeated more than once is a decision.
Thanks for your shout out, Nick. I feel quite comfortable in my OCD skin!
I already have Brenda’s organization book, and found alot of great ideas. Thanks for the recommendation on Mona Ingram’s books. I need another series to read, until your next book is available.
Nick, I sure do appreciate your mention here about the Norcold refrigerator issues and dangers I’ve been experiencing and researching. Yours is an important voice in the RV community and I linked to your blog on a couple of my pages, so I appreciate your input and the additional exposure. Hopefully it can help others who are dealing with these issues. Thanks!
