As I wrote in yesterday’s blog, when we left Terry’s opal ring at Jewelry By Charlie in Boulder City on Friday, he told us he would work on it over the weekend so we could pick it up Monday and keep our schedule to be in Reno to pick up the new issue of the Gypsy Journal on Wednesday.
But yesterday morning the phone rang and it was the shop calling to tell us that the ring was resized, the new stone had been set, and it was ready to pick up. Wow, talk about fast service! A lot of business owners could take a lesson from Charlie.
We drove back to the shop to pick up the ring, and he did an excellent job on it. Terry was very pleased. While we were there she also saw this beautiful sapphire and diamond ring. She’s not really a jewelry person, so when she does see something she likes I take notice. Since her birthday is the 22nd, she got an early present.
After we left the shop we stopped to check out a couple of other antique shops that we missed on Friday. The more I see of Boulder City, the more I like the charming and friendly little town.
Not enough to move there; if we ever hang up the keys it will be in Florida. But we like Boulder City enough that the next time we’re in the area we’ll probably avoid Las Vegas altogether and stay at the Boulder City Elks lodge campground.
On our way back to the campground we stopped for dinner at a nice little Chinese restaurant called the Golden Flower. Located in a nearly empty strip mall on Russell Road, it was named Best of Las Vegas a few years ago.
We actually found it a week or so ago on Yelp and this was our second time there. Terry liked her meal both times and my shrimp fried rice was delicious. This one definitely gets added to our Favorite Restaurants book.
