No Rain But Windy

The weatherman predicted rain yesterday but we woke up to blue sky and moderate temperatures. In fact, it was so nice that we had the door and windows open for most of the day, enjoying the fresh air.

There was a steady breeze and it would have been a good day to try out my new Prism Quantum kite, but I was a good boy and spent most of the day at my desk working on the new issue of the Gypsy Journal.

I did stop to visit with Greg when he came over for a while in the afternoon, and then later on I went outside when I saw him washing his motorhome with his new Karcher pressure washer. He was doing a pretty good job of it, and I suggested he might want to wash my Winnebago once he was done. Or even do mine first and get back to his whenever he had the time. But Greg wasn’t all that agreeable. Sometimes he’s pretty hard to get along with.

About sundown the wind started to pick up and before long it was really rattling the slide covers and window awnings. With the wind came a decided drop in the temperature too, and before long we closed the door and windows.

Good news for fans of John and Kathy Huggins’ Living the RV Dream website and podcasts! They are going to be holding their first Living the RV Dream Gathering at Horseshoe Cove RV Resort in Bradenton, Florida. The event will be from October 21st to 25th. There will be seminars by the Geeks on Tour, Techno RV, and John and Kathy, of course. For more information, check out the Rally Facebook page or e-mail John and Kathy at

Thanks to all of you who helped get my new book, Big Lake Burning, off to a great start by downloading a copy and telling your friends and family about it. It’s sold about 700 copies in less than a week. Hopefully it will be available from other online retailers soon, and I’ll be formatting it for a print edition, too. This is the sixth book in the Big Lake mystery series and I have at least four more to go, and perhaps as many as eight. New ideas pop into my head all the time.

Big Lake Burning FINAL small

Speaking of books, congratulations Roy Brody, winner of this week’s Gypsy Journal drawing for an audiobook of Hostiles, the third book in John Daulton’s Galactic Mage series. Stay tuned, a new contest starts soon.

Thought For The Day – If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, it means nobody else liked them. Set them free again.

  1. Nick, please publish a picture taken from the copter while flying. Thanks ray

  2. I can’t wait for Big Lake Burning to be on B&N nook e-books. I have checked twice; nothing.

  3. You need to take the time for yourself. Go fly your kite.

  4. Another great read! It was like a visit back home and catching up with old friends. This was one of those books you hate to put down as the suspense never lets up and the laugh out loud antics of some of the characters keeps you hooked. Great book Nick!

  5. Both of you need to go out and have some fun,not working fun, I know how much you love doing that but you really need to just get away from it all. I said it twice before this was another great book, no matter how hard I tried not to just sit and read it all at one time, it failed, could not put it down. Found out something else about living in TX it is called Cedar Fever. and it will knock you one your fanny, the cedar pollen count has been so high that folks are getting sick from it. I will be glad that when the wind stops and it stops blowing this stuff. Yet we are getting the much needed rain but the winds can stop now. see you soon I hope
