Too Windy To Play

The weatherman was predicting colder temperatures and high winds yesterday and he sure didn’t lie! The wind started blowing hard in the wee hours of the morning and it never stopped all day long. Sustained winds were between 20 – 25 miles per hour, with gusts to 40, and I don’t think it got over 60 degrees all day long.

It was a good day to stay inside, and except for a trip to the dumpster, I never poked my nose out the door. Hopefully today things will settle down and we can get out and play some more. There is so much to see and do here in the Saint Augustine area that I hate wasting any time while we’re here.

I spent the day on the computer finalizing last month’s book sales, and the BookBub promotion I did in early October really had an impact. It reminded me of the “good old days” when Big Lake hit the New York Times bestseller list.

Speaking of the Big Lake mystery series, reader Diane Saunders sent me this ad that popped up on the screen of her Kindle Paperwhite. How cool is that?

We are scheduled to leave here on Tuesday and then we’ll go to the Titusville area for a week. It’s one of our favorite places in the country and if we ever hang up the keys we’ll be looking long and hard at the Space Coast as a possible place to settle down. But don’t worry, that’s not going to happen anytime soon, if ever.

Originally we had planned to go to the Keys for a couple of weeks in November, but after crunching the numbers and looking at our budget, we decided we would be better off doing that another time. That left us with about a month to kill before our first reservation at the Orlando Thousand Trails preserve starts in early December.

Acting on a tip from John Huggins at the Living the RV Dream website, I got a sweet deal on a month at Pleasant Lake Carefree Resort in Bradenton, so we’ll be there instead. It looks like a nice place, and we’re not that far from a lot of fun things to do, including beaches and fishing, and I bet I can find someplace there to fly a kite, too!

Today is your last chance to enter this week’s Free Drawing for an an audiobook of Rift in the Races Book 2 in my friend John Daulton’s Galactic Mage Series. To enter, all you have to do is click on the Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn this evening.

Thought For The Day – I chose the road less traveled. Now where the hell am I?

  1. Friends lived in Braedenton and wanted us to visit but we never made it down. They had lived awhile in St. Augustine prior to Braedenton. He was quite the fisherman….caught so many in St. Augustine that often gave them away. Of course, they did eat some of them too. Sounds like it is a good time to be in that location!!

  2. Don’t forget Dixie Cross Roads.

  3. Be sure to go to Solomon’s Castle when in Bradenton. Awesome place.
