We’re In The Money!

We had a nice surprise when I logged into our bank account yesterday – Terry’s first Social Security payment was there. We didn’t expect it until the end of the month, but we’re sure not complaining.

I’m not sure what she plans to do with her newfound wealth. Maybe a couple of trips to the drive-through window at McDonald’s, or she may blow the whole bundle at once and take me to Golden Corral for the Senior Citizen’s Early Bird Dinner.

Yesterday we stayed home and Terry worked on editing my new book, while I wrote a short article on RV Bus Conversions for John Huggins’ Living The RV Dream website. If you haven’t checked it yet, John has been busy the last couple of months adding a tremendous amount of information to his website that every RVer can use.

It’s been several years since we sold our MCI bus conversion and people are always asking me if we miss it. There are some things we definitely do miss, including the beautiful cabinets Terry built, the Avanti stove, and the huge basement storage bays. But we don’t miss the lack of power or the overheating problems it was plagued with as the old Detroit diesel engine got older.

If we were going to build another bus conversion today, we’d go for a newer 102 inch wide coach with a more modern Series 60 four stroke engine. It’s getting harder and harder to find good mechanics who know how to work on the old two stroke engines. But it was a heck of an adventure, and you can read about our bus conversion project at this link. Someday I should write an e-book on converting a bus. Yeah, like I have time for that, right?

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time to kick off a new Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an audiobook of Maximum Security, the third book in my friend Carol Ann Newsome’s excellent Dog Park mystery series. To enter, all you have to do is click on the Free Drawings link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.

  1. Terry’s birthday must be close to mine…we are supposed to begin getting mine this month too!! We are not counting on being fortunate enough to find ours in early however….things just don’t happen like this with us. But glad you got it!! Heh, yea, maybe you can go eat at the Golden Corral now…that is about right.

  2. Nick, cannot get into free drawing site this am.

  3. Congratulations Terry. I was thinking of her yesterday when we visited a loom room. I posted a picture of 1700’s loom in my blog.

  4. You could dictate your books and have someone type them. Then you could put out more books! LOL

  5. 404 on the free drawing site today.

  6. Nick our 5C bus is not that slow, only UP hills!…..Heck we got up to 32 the other day but forgot and left the toad running and in 2nd gear. You think finding a mechanic is hard, with our MCI 5C Saudi Bus I have to read the Manual….. in Arabic!…
I will be here all week.
