We slept in yesterday morning and then spent a while catching up on the backlog of e-mail that had piled up while we were gone all day Thursday at the VA hospital. Even after deleting all of the forwards and spam, I still had almost 100. I think I need a secretary.
About 2 p.m. we left the campground, made a stop at the bank to see if they were giving away free samples (they weren’t) and then another stop at the post office to mail out more orders. From there we drove to cousin Beverly’s house and picked her up. Terry was looking for new sheets for our bed and wanted to check out JC Penny, where she has bought them in the past. She didn’t find anything she liked, but I did pick up a new belt, since I’ve about worn out my old one. It’s worked hard over the years.
Our next stop was Rocco’s Little Chicago Pizzeria. We first heard about Rocco’s a few weeks ago when their public stand against Arizona HB1062 prompted them to post this sign. Little did they know it was going to go viral, being picked up by blogs and news reports nationwide. I told Miss Terry that we were going to have dinner there when we got back to Tucson.
The place was really crowded, and we quickly learned that it wasn’t just because of their recent public exposure. The food is amazing! Terry and Beverly started out with the $3.79 house salads and said they were excellent, as were the cheesy bread sticks.
We ordered the four cheese deep dish pizza, which was beyond delicious. It was Chicago style, with the sauce on top, and the crust was light and tender, not at all what we expected from a pan pizza. We will definitely return to Rocco’s again!
Back at Beverly’s house, she gave Terry some tips on organizing the books on her Amazon Kindle e-book reader. All three of our Kindles are linked to the same account, so whenever one of us downloads a book we all have access to it.
Do you want an Amazon Kindle or to upgrade the one you have now, but don’t have the cash? Amazon is currently running a promotion where you can purchase any Kindle for just 20% down and pay the balance over the next four months. I’m real tempted to upgrade to a Paperwhite myself. To take advantage of this program, click this link to Amazon and then click Get It Now, Pay Over Time at the top of the page. You have to be logged into your Amazon account and have a credit card on file with them, or you’ll get a message saying you are not eligible.
Have you entered this week’s Free Drawing yet? The prize is an audiobook of Birdsongs, by my friend Jason Deas. It’s the first book in Jason’s excellent Benny James mystery series, a fast-paced tale centered on former FBI agent Benny James, who hoped to retire to a slower paced lifestyle on a houseboat but finds himself drawn into a murder investigation. All you have to do is click on the Free Drawing link and enter your name in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.
And finally, to start your day off with a chuckle, Here is a JibJab video somebody came up with of myself and fellow authors Bobbi Johnson Holmes, Traci Tyne Hilton, and Brandon Hale kicking up our heels. I bet you didn’t know I had moves like that, did you?

Good for you for going to Rocco’s Pizza. I would too if I was in the area.
The Paperwhite is awesome!
You will love the Paperwhite!
You are looking good on JibJab. You might go to Chase bank: last week we got a letter for “$400 FREE”. But we didn’t even open the letter—we already have $400. Ha– cc
Love the dancing video. You still got it Nick!! I already have a wifi capable Paperwhite and love it. I don’t read in bed a lot but occasionally when I can’t sleep I can read for a while to unwind and not wake up Donald. I used your link and just ordered another one for my daughter on the special. I did not know we could link more than one Kindle to an account. Thanks for telling me that.
I had a regular keyboard Kindle and liked it but the kids got wifey a Paper White for Christmas and I really liked it a lot more. Just needed to save a few bucks first. But I took advantage of your special offer and just ordered one. Thanks for the link.
We both have had Paper Whites for over a year and really like them. Only drawback is it is just too easy to buy new books!
