Summer’s Coming

The folks up north, where they’ve had snowfall after snowfall, may not believe it but summer really is coming. In fact, I think it’s right around the corner here in Arizona. The weatherman says we’ll be in the 90s all week.

If you’re one of the people still shivering in the cold, take at look at this picture, All I can say is, wish you were here!

They say that everything that lives in the desert will either bite you, sting you, or stick you, and that may be true. But this is still a great time of year to be here, with everything in bloom. We went for a walk yesterday afternoon and I took a few photos of the different cacti with my cell phone.

No matter if they’re in the sunshine or the snow, people must be planning their summer travels. In the last few days we’ve seen a surge of orders for back issues of the Gypsy Journal. They are a great way to learn more about different parts of the country you might be visiting. I go back and refer to them often when we’re returning to a place, or just when I want to reminisce.

We’re also seeing a lot of orders coming in for our money saving travel guides like our Guide to Free and Low Cost Campgrounds and our Guide to Fairgrounds Camping from our E-book Store. In today’s economy, we all need to save a buck every time we can.

Miss Terry has come down with a nasty cold so we didn’t go out yesterday except for the walk we took just before sundown when it had cooled off.

But it was still a busy day. Terry filled several orders that had come in and knocked a big hole in the paperwork that seems to grow overnight. It’s a never-ending task.

I was busy, too. I managed to narrow down the list of 55 auditions for the audio version of Big Lake to just four, which wasn’t an easy task since there were so many excellent ones submitted.

Once that was done, I uploaded Big Lake Lynching and Crazy Days in Big Lake to Barnes & Noble for Nook readers. They should be live anytime now, which will make all four books in the series available.

Next I formatted Big Lake Blizzard and uploaded it to CreateSpace, Amazon’s print division. I hope to have a proof back in a week or so, and have it available in print soon after.

When that was done I wrote another 1,500 words or so in my newest book. All in all, not a bad day, if I do say so myself.

  1. We had already had a few triple digit days before we left Yuma at the end of March. Would still be there but we wanted to attend an antique bus rally that was being held at a restored 1939 Greyhound bus in Blytheville Arkansas during the first week of April. Since then we have been sitting in Missouri waiting for spring to catch up to us,….have had frost a couple of times and have seen more rain in the last 3 weeks than we have seen in the last 5 years.

  2. Hope Terry feels better soon. Summer has reach Hondo early this year, we are staying in the mid to high 80’s with a few high 90’s thrown in there. We hope to be out of here the middle of May before the triple digits hit. We would not mind some rain though.

  3. Summer is definitely coming to Ball Ground, Georgia as well. Thankfully we have actually had a spring this year. We usually skip it and go straight to the hot. The milder days have been a nice change this year.
